Katy Life Enrichment
We are honored to offer our residents the opportunity to get the most out of life and truly enjoy every day no matter what their needs may be. This is why we prioritize the enjoyment and enrichment of life in addition to our high level of care and amenities.
Safe & Secure Walking Paths
Residences and the clubhouse are connected by a continuous walking path, adding to the sense of freedom enjoyed at SilverCrest. The paths are well lit and well supervised, so early birds can enjoy them in the morning hours and night owls can traverse them in the evening with sure footing and the comfort of staff support should the need arise.
Activities & Opportunities
Our Life Enrichment Program is planned and executed by our experienced and trained director, and our calendar is coordinated with a full range of activities specializing in social, physical and therapeutic activities. This is all done to keep our residents happy and engaged, as well as to minimize agitation, depression, boredom and other adverse behaviors that may arise. People with memory-related issues benefit from structured days filled with meaningful activity. At SilverCrest, we use a person-centered activity approach where we work closely with the resident to compose a list of their interest and favorite hobbies. With this information, we develop and cater our activities specifically to our residents in mind, to include:
- Arts & crafts
- Pet therapy
- Music therapy
- Computer literacy classes
- Reading time
- Cooking classes
- Outdoor activities such as gardening or walking along our secure pathways
Studies show that utilizing a person-centered activity approach can help decrease depression, improve self-esteem, improve sleep habits, increase mental and social stimulation and minimize behavioral changes. Plus, modify each activity to the resident’s abilities in order to make it more enjoyable. It has been shown that when seniors remain active and engage in activities familiar to them, it helps them live well for as long as possible.
Stand Alone Clubhouse (Coming in Phase II)
The communal and familial atmosphere at SilverCrest is reflected in our clubhouse, which creates a fun and unique setting for residents to gather, relax, interact, enjoy events, pursue hobbies or do whatever else brings joy to their daily lives. The clubhouse is separate from the residences, giving our environment a feeling more reminiscent of a college campus than a senior living community.
